2022-23 Santa Cruz Warriors training and roster finalized

SANTA CRUZ — The Santa Cruz Warriors, the NBA G League affiliate of the Golden State Warriors, have finalized coaching and roster staff under second-year head coach Seth Cooper for the 2022-23 season. of the NBA G League.

Nick Kerr and Noel Hightower will serve as assistant coaches. Tyler Larson and Devin Sweetney will serve as player development assistants/coaches. Toral Desai will return as Head Athletic Coach and Andre Mattson will return as Head Performance Coach.

The team also announced Michael Salame as director of basketball operations and player personnel and Shannon Stabler as manager of basketball operations and team development. Dawood Akhtar will serve as the team’s basketball operations associate and Rogene Tagoca as assistant athletic trainer.

“I’m thrilled to welcome new and old faces to our Santa Cruz team this season,” Warriors general manager David Fatoki said. “We are delighted to build on the success of last season and compete for a championship with this staff this season.”

Kerr is entering his second season as an assistant coach and previously served as Golden State’s video coordinator and player development coach.

Hightower is entering his first season with Santa Cruz after spending one season with the Indiana Pacers as a player development coach.

Larson is entering his first season as a player development assistant/coach with Santa Cruz, having played professionally in Italy last season.

Sweetney is entering his first season as a player development assistant/coach with Santa Cruz after spending last season with the Windy City Bulls as a player development assistant/coach.

Desai is entering his second season with Santa Cruz after spending the past seven seasons with UCLA Athletics. Mattson is entering his third season with Santa Cruz as head performance coach.

Anthony Vereen, assistant coach at Santa Cruz last season, joined Golden State this season as player development coach. Vereen, who won an NBA G League championship with Santa Cruz as a player in 2015, has been on the coaching staff since 2017. Vereen joins former Santa Cruz head coach Kris Weems in the Golden State team.

“We’re excited to be back on the court this season and welcome some new faces to Santa Cruz,” Cooper said. “These coaches and staff will facilitate the growth and development of young players and will be excellent mentors for our team. I look forward to competing on the court with them this season.

Santa Cruz opens its 2022-23 NBA G League season with back-to-back games against the Ontario Clippers on Nov. 4-5. The outcome for both games is at 7 p.m.
