3 free agent-wide receivers connected to Chicago Bears coaching staff

When the Chicago Bears head into free agency, it will be the first time this new regime and coaching staff have looked to add players to the roster. As we begin to understand the tendencies and style that Ryan Poles has as GM, for now we can only continue on past relationships to find potential roster tweaks.

Through connections in the NFL, many players maintain relationships with coaches, executives, and more. These three wide receivers have strong ties to the Chicago Bears coaching staff.

3. Emmanuel Sanders, WR, Buffalo Bills

The Chicago Bears have hired Tyke Tolbert to be their wide receivers coach. Tolbert spent time with the Denver Broncos from 2011 to 2017. Emmanuel Sander was with the Broncos from 2014 to 2019. So the two spent four years in the same room working every day. If you recall, Sanders struggled in Pittsburgh but his career took off once he signed in Denver.

If anyone had a strong recommendation for Emmanuel Sanders, it would be Tolbert, and if the aging Sanders was looking for a happy place to end his career, it might be helping his pal Tolbert and helping out Justin Fields.

When there were questions about Tolbert being let go by the Broncos ahead of the 2017 season, Sanders said he wanted him to stay and exuded happiness when the team picked him up.

When the Broncos left Tolbert, Sanders had a heated argument with his receiving coach and eventually asked to leave Denver.

However, wherever Sanders went, the team he played for was competitive. From the 49ers, Saints to the Buffalo Bills, he had helped out as a complementary weapon that goes about its business and sets an example.

Emmanuel Sanders would be the perfect leader for a player like Darnell Mooney, and Sanders would be the player Tolbert wants in practice to show Mooney his coaching method. It could be a good fit.
