All you need to know: Eagles make 6 coaching staff changes

Training camp is upon us and Philadelphia Eagles wasted no time buttoning up their shirts and getting ready for the summer ahead. The team today announced six job changes in its front office, including one new hire.

Dennard Wilson

The defensive backs coach was promoted to become the defensive passing coordinator. Realistically, this should position it as Gannon’s understudy and in case of Eagles DC departure or goes into exile based on his 2022 season, they have at least one in-house candidate who knows the same principles.

Jeremiah Washburn

Jeremiah Washburn has gone from defensive assistant to DE/OLB coach. It is interesting that these positions have been grouped together when you consider the versatility of Hasson Reddick. This is likely by design and shows an intent to encourage this hybrid style of play beyond the talents of the new pass-rusher franchise.

Tyler Scudder

He went from assistant coach to defensive assistant. I don’t know what that means either.

Alex Tanney

The former QB gets a promotion to become assistant coach to Brian Johnson’s QB. It’s very easy to see Tanney climbing the ranks to a more senior coaching position in the coming years, especially if Hurts develops as expected.

Eric Dickerson

Eric Dickerson moves from the defensive side of the ball to the attacking side as quality control coach.

Scott Kaniecki

In an ironic turn of events, the Eagles actually poached one of Cleveland’s front office members instead of losing one of their own to the Browns! Kaniecki joins as an administrative assistant to the head coach…so, Dwight Schrute.
