College sports: Bison alum brings coaching skills to Badger State (3/24/22)

LA CROSSE, Wisc. –The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Intercollegiate Athletics Department announced the hiring of Mitchell Collicott as an assistant football coach.

The McCook native will work with the UWL defensive line.

He comes to UWL after serving as defensive line coach at Chadron State College (Neb.) since August 2018. Colicott assisted with daily and weekly roster dispatch while assisting the defensive coordinator with day-to-day operations. He also helped special teams at Chadron State (Neb.).

Earning his master’s degree in 2021 at Chadron State, Neb., Collicott was the Eagles’ team captain in 2017.

He earned All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) second-team honors at defensive tackle in 2017 and was an honorable mention selection in 2016.

Collicott played in all 11 games in 2017, finishing with 45 tackles, including 4.5 for loss. He recorded two sacks from the quarterback, one forced and one fumble recovery that season.

Collicott was named to the Omaha World-Herald Division II Midlands team in 2016 and 2017.

He will also serve as an Assistant Sports Performance Center Coach with Intercollegiate Athletics, responsible for programming, implementing and overseeing sports performance programs.
