Next, Deion Sanders wants to bring in former NFL head coach Mike Zimmer as an assistant on his coaching staff, what do you think is going on?
Zimmer, who was once the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, has accepted an analyst position under Coach Sanders, according to HBCU Game Day. He was introduced to the team on Tuesday in the team’s newly redesigned cinema room and during a chat with The pre-game showZimmer explained why he took the job.
“He asked me the question several times. The salary is not good. But I love Deon and I would do anything for him,” Zimmer said.
Deion’s relationship with Zimmer dates back almost a quarter of a century. As an assistant for the Dallas Cowboys in the 1990s, Zimmer coached Sanders and helped the team win its last Super Bowl in 1996. He also worked for the Atlanta Falcons and Cincinnati Bengals before joining being hired as head coach of the Vikings in 2014.
Acknowledging he didn’t know much about HBCUs before Sanders arrived in Jackson State, he’s paid more attention since former NFL players like Sanders and Eddie George became coaches in head of HBCUs.

“He can open so many doors for these young men, but I’m hugely impressed with the way he teaches them about life and not just football. And taking care of them and talking to them about the real things happening in the world. and not stuffed animals.
