Miami Dolphins announce Mike McDaniel coaching staff

The Dolphins announced Mike McDaniel’s coaching staff for the 2022 season on Friday, which includes Dolphins legends, leftovers and former San Francisco 49ers assistants.

Apart from previously reported additions, McDaniel retained a pair of coaches in new roles and added more assistants. Lemuel Jeanpierre, who was offensive line coach in 2021, now has the title of assistant offensive line coach. Josh Grizzard, who coached wide receivers, is now a quality control coach.

Mike Person, a nine-year-old NFL offensive lineman who straddled McDaniel in San Francisco, joins the staff as an offensive assistant. Person has played in 73 career games and started all playoff games during the 49ers run to the Super Bowl in the 2019 season.

Aldrick Robinson, a former wide receiver who straddled McDaniel in San Francisco, Washington and Atlanta, joins as an offensive assistant.

Kolby Smith, who spent the past two seasons as quality control coach, is now an offensive assistant.

Mathieu Araujo, co-defensive coordinator at Yale, joins the staff as assistant defensive backs coach. Araujo, who also coached defensive backs at Yale and was introduced as an assistant head coach/defensive coordinator at Maine in January before deciding to move to Miami.

Steve Ferentz, who spent the 2021 season as an assistant linebackers coach.

Steve Gregory, a former NFL defensive back who was most recently an assistant coach at Miami, is now a safety coach.

Derrick LeBlanc, who has coached primarily the defensive line in college for the past 21 years, joins as assistant defensive line coach.

Joining as a senior defensive assistant is Ryan Slowik, who has 12 years of NFL coaching experience. Slowik most recently coached outside linebackers for the Cleveland Browns during the 2016 season.
