Riders complete their coaching staff by hiring Marcus Klund

Marcus Klund has been hired as defensive backs coach for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

The hiring of Klund, who has extensive high school and college coaching experience, completes the Riders’ coaching staff for the 2022 CFL season.

Klund replaces Richard Kent, who was hired in January as defensive coordinator for the European Football League’s Leipzig Kings.

Klund has spent the past nine seasons at Southwest Baptist University (SBU) in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. He was an assistant head coach and defensive coordinator and also coached defensive linemen, linebackers and defensive backs.

Prior to his move to SBU, Klund coached at Parkway West High School (2007-08), Lindenwood University (2009-11) and Lindenwood-Belleville University (2011-13).

The team of riders’ coaches is made up of:

The head coach: Craig Dickenson.

Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach:Jason Maas.

defensive coordinator: Jason Chills.

Special Teams Coordinator: Kent Maugeri.

Offensive Line Coach and Running Game Coordinator: Stephen Sorels.

Running backs coach: Kelly Jeffrey.

receivers coach: Travis Moore.

Linebackers Coach: Deion Melvin.

Defensive Line Coach: Ben Olson.

Defensive backs coach: Marcus Klund.
